OOPS WeSee to go with corDECT

Chennai: After hiving off a part of its business into a separate outfit, Object Oriented Programming Services (OOPS) is all set to launch India’s first video-conferencing product, WeSee.

“We will first deploy the product on corDECT lines and later market the same to others,” says OOPS managing director M Gowri Sanker. According to him, the product will have multi-casting features.

“I am confident that this will become the first Indian software that will cross 1 million users soon,” adds Karthi Iyer, who founded the company. All aspects of the required technology, including audio/video, compression/decompression (codec), networking, protocol definition, etc, have been developed indigenously.

The company has also developed a voice mail facility used by ‘Chiraag’ Internet kiosks in rural areas (See ‘n-Logue’s digital edge to rural India’) and is now working on compression technologies so that video mail too can be sent.

Prior to the corporate restructuring, OOPS had a successful email solution En Mail. The product was transferred to another company www.enmail.com, in which Intel has invested. The other product that OOPS is still selling is I-dial, an easy Internet dialer.
