Hyderabad: Sierra Optima Ltd, the Hyderabad-based application networks company, has changed its name to Sierra Atlantic Software Services Ltd.

Sierra Optima has been in the process of restructuring its equity capital, as a result of which it has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sierra Atlantic Inc, USA. With the changed name the company is taking a new direction with a sharpened focus on the $18-billion global enterprise applications integration market.

Sierra Atlantic is building the application networks family of integration products for customer relationship management and supply chain management. With engineering relationships with best of breed application vendors like Oracle, SAP, Siebel, PeopleSoft and Agile, and middleware vendors like Tibco and webMethods, Sierra Atlantic is poised to offer products and services for integrating business process flows and applications within and outside the enterprise.

Sierra Atlantic will leverage its partnerships with leading application vendors and customer proximity in the US along with development strengths and cost-effectiveness of the Indian operation to deliver new-generation products and services. Sierra Atlantics application networks will help us augment our enterprise application service offerings to include productised integration solutions, says Sierra Atlantic Software Services managing director Sarath Sura.

The application networks are integration frameworks, designed to be scalable. Sierra Atlantic plans to target a broader market segment by providing these solutions directly to customers as well as through partners. Development of products entails long-gestation period and uncertain returns on investment. It is in this scenario that Sierra Optima had proactively offered its shareholders an exit by way of return of equity capital.
