Opus Software wins national IT award for best package

Mumbai: Pune-based Opus Software has received the coveted National IT Award for 'best IT package' for 2004 for its 'Electra' suite of products. Opus' Electra topped the list of software products on criteria like criticality of IT usage, improvement in customer service, impact on quality and productivity, impact on society, and innovation. The awards named CSI-Wipro Awards is instituted by the country's oldest computer industry organisation, The Computer Society of India (CSI) started in 1965 and which has 18,000 members.

Professor M G K Menon, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and ex-minister of science and technology and Rajya Sabha member gave the awards away. Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems, delivered the keynote address at the function.

The CSI-Wipro Awards are the only national awards given to best performers in the field of IT. Opus is the first totally software product company to receive the 'best IT package' award. With more than 60 customers in the last two years, Opus' Electra has seen phenomenal success in the US, Asia, Middle East and the Indian markets. Opus' Electra suite of products has successfully replaced legacy foreign software solutions in many banks across Asia. Electra is a robust, reliable, cost effective and user-friendly software solution for the card based payment systems. Banks use Electra for mission-critical applications such as ATM and POS driving, card management and payment gateway.

Electra's Indian customers include ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Corporation Bank, Dena Bank and Allahabad Bank. Using Electra, these banks have reduced their costs of operations for deploying ATM and Card based payment systems.
