Mobile payments firm Paytm has tamed up with Tata AIG General Insurance to design a new cashless health insurance scheme to cab and auto drivers.

The new cashless insurance scheme will ensure quality medical care for these groups that in ordinary case cannot afford high-cost medical treatment.

Under the scheme, cab and auto drivers, who are using Paytm's digital wallet, will be able to avail cashless health insurance through Tata AIG General Insurance, the private insurer said in a release.

Tata AIG General Insurance designed the cashless insurance scheme as required by Paytm. The scheme also covers the existing health condition.

The new health insurance scheme will cover hospitalisation expenses of up to Rs50,000.

This initiative has already received a good response in Delhi and NCR, with over 1,800 drivers signing up and the services are expected to extend to other regions of India soon.

Tata AIG General Insurance is a joint venture between the Tata Group and the American International Group (AIG).
