Railway revenue earnings up by 12.15 per cent in 1Q 2011

The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during April  June 2011 rosse to Rs24,756.18 crore, up from Rs22,074.92 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 12.15 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs14,928.80 crore during the same quarter in 2010 to Rs16,811.76 in April June 2011, an increase of 12.61 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings during first three months of the cfurrent financial year rose to Rs6,841.16 crore from Rs6,190.10 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.52 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs694.63 crore during April-June 2011 compared to Rs626.03 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 10.96 per cent.

The total approximate number of passengers booked during April-June 2011 were 2,039.82 million compared to 1936.98 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.31 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during April-June 2011 were 1008.09 million and 1031.73 million compared to 965.05 million and 971.93 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.46 per cent and 6.15 per cent respectively.
