Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group firm Reliance Communications on Tuesday announced a uniform 50 paise per minute rate for all services like local, STD, roaming, SMS, across all networks - both CDMA and GSM - in a bid to boost its GSM user base.

The 50 paise tariff across-the-board, made available to GSM, CDMA customers under the 'Simply Reliance Plan' from 6 October, is expected to kick off a rate war across the telecom industry.

The plan will be available for both prepaid and post-paid users, an Rcom release said.

The single rate of 50 paise a minute is applicable to local and STD calls, to any mobile CDMA or GSM or landline or vice versa from anywhere in the country.

Rcom also said it will charge a uniform rate for both incoming and outgoing calls - be it roaming or anytime of the day.

Messaging cost will also be the same within the country.
