Reliance Communications to offer GSM SIM cards for Rs 25

Reliance Communications yesterday announced its arrival in the GSM mobiloe services segment firing a salvo announcing the availability of its SIM cards for Rs25 and free talk time of Rs900 to any network.

The company has also offered unlimited night time calling on its network. The tariffs are targeted at low-end users.

Everuy user who buys a Reliance Communication GSM card will get a top up of Rs10 equivalent worth of talk time at Re1 for a local call for 90-days.

According to company saources, this tariff is likely to be extended across all circles across India barring the South, where lowers spend less on mobile usage and thus yield lower 'average revenue per user', the rates may be higher.

For Reliance Communications, this strategy is essentially aimed at expanding a mass base of subscribers sincce this is the first time Reliance Comunications has offered a prepaid service.

Post paid services are expcted to start later next month.

The company, which has been an agrressive price warrior plans to add at least 20 per cent incremental monthly additions to its subscriber base - a target of 2 million subscribers  every month.

The mobile services firm is expected to announce its long distance rates across networks in the days ahead.
