Reliance Energy to invite tender for power plant in Raigad

On the heels of its announcement yesterday to invite bids for the Dadri power project,( Reliance Energy Generation to invite bids for 5,600mw Dadri Power) Reliance Energy has announced through the BSE that Maharashtra Energy Generation Ltd (MEGL), an ADAE Group company would be inviting bids for its 1400mw phase-I of the proposed 4000mw combined cycle mega power plant at Shahapur in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. The company had already signed an MoU with the government of Maharashtra in April 2005.
Now, the Company is set to invite sealed and binding offers for engineering, procurement and construction contracts through international competitive bidding, the criteria for which will be detailed in advertisements this week.
The 4000mw ultimate capacity of the project, once completed and commissioned, is expected to represent more than 25 per cent of the existing total installed capacity in Maharashtra and is expected to cater to the power needs of Mumbai''s consumers through the group''s power utility company.
