Reliance Jio, having delayed its 4G service rollout, is reported to be coming out with a heavily discounted sale of data-packs and 4G phones to capture the market.

Reliance Jio is offering Lyf-branded smartphones for as low as Rs9,499 - a Rs4,000 drop from the earlier price of Rs13,499 – says a Gadgets 360 report.

The Lyf Wind 6 model will be available at Rs5,999 (down Rs500 from the earlier price of Rs6,499) while the Lyf Flame 2 will be available at Rs3,499 (down Rs1,300 from the earlier price of Rs4,799), says the report.

Meanwhile the prices of several Lyf-branded smartphones have dropped by up to Rs1,000 per handseet. The new prices are effective from Tuesday, the company informed its dealers.

The Lyf Water 2 will now retail at Rs9,499 (down Rs4,000 from the earlier price of Rs13,499); Lyf Wind 6 will be available at Rs5,999 (down Rs500 from the earlier price of Rs6,499); and Lyf Flame 2 will be available at Rs3,499 (down Rs1,300 from the earlier price of Rs4,799).

Some of the other handsets whose prices have fallen by up to Rs1,000 include the Lyf Flame 4, Flame 5, and Flame 6, all of which will now be available at Rs2,999.

Reliance Jio, however, is yet to officially launch 4G services, although the company has been offering its services to consumers under an employee referral programme. Reliance CDMA customers are also being offered chance to upgrade to a Reliance Jio SIM, and Jio SIMs have also been on offer to anyone who buys Lyf smartphones.
