Reliance to increase PSF capacity

Mumbai: Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) announced on Tuesday that it is increasing its polyester staple fibre capacity by 40,000 tonnes. The company is building a new polyester staple fibre plant at Hazira. The new plant, to be built by German major Zimmer AG, will increase RIL's per year polyester filament and staple fibre capacity to 8,50,000 tonnes, a press release said.

Zimmer will supply engineering and equipment for the plant. It will also supervise the building and commissioning, a news release said. RIL is currently the world's second largest polyester yarn and fibre producer with a range of specialty fibre grades and colours.

The company exports to the US, Europe, Turkey and other emerging markets, the release said
