Reliance Wind Energy to set up wind energy project with Suzlon

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company Reliance Wind Energy (RWE), a subsidiary of Reliance Energy, today said it had signed an agreement with Suzlon Energy to set up a 150 MW wind power project.

Reliance says it is investing Rs900 crore in the project, in which Suzlon Energy will set up the wind farm in Sangli, Maharashtra. The project is expected to be rolled out by March 2008.

The project will be completed in two phases and would generate 380 million units per annum after completion, and the power would be purchased by Reliance Energy for its Mumbai distribution business.

REW is planning to set up 500 MW wind power projects in various states over the next two - three years, and the 150 MW project will make Reliance ADA Group one of the biggest wind energy generators in the country.
