With aptly named packages called Rush and Velocity, Hathway Cable Internet has launched a determined attempt to attract mass subscribers. The two packages are now available with a lower entry price and increased access speed.

In the case of Rush, the package is available for as low as Rs.300 a month, with access speed the same as with Velocity, that is at 128kbps. Increasing the Internet access speed from the earlier 64 kbps to 128 kbps, Hathway has simultaneously slashed the entry price from Rs.650 to Rs.300.

While Rush allows you a data download of 300 MB a month, its higher end package Velocity, available at Rs.1000 a month, offers a download of 750 MB. The uploads are without charge.

Earlier this year Hathway had already halved its cable modem price by more than 50 per cent, bringing it down to Rs.3,333. According to the company, the modems built on DOCSIS (Data over Cable Services Interface Specifications) technology, are designed to deliver high-end performance.

Hathway, a part of the Rajan Raheja Group, is a dominant player in India's cable TV market operating in the cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Nashik, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Vijaywada.

Hathway has entered into an alliance with STAR, one of the largest content providers in the world, by way of launching interactive digital TV all across the country.
