S Sridhar takes over as CMD National Housing Bank

S SridharS Sridhar has taken over as chairman and managing director, National Housing Bank, with effect from April 18, 2006. Sridhar is an experienced banker with over 32 years' professional experience in commercial and development banking specialising in international finance, project and trade finance, corporate planning, having started his career as a probationer with the State Bank of India.

Since May 2001 Sridhar has been executive director of Exim Bank of India.

Sridhar has post graduate degrees in physics and management. He was awarded the Lord Aldington Banking Research Fellow for the year 1984 working in the U.K and France.

National Housing Bank, a fully owned subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India, was established in 1987 and is the apex financial institution in the country in housing finance and functions as the regulator of the housing finance companies.
