Samsung launches Blu-ray player in India

Samsung India, in a bid to increase sales in the country, today announced the launch of a  new range of home-entertainment products, including the BD-P1400, the company's first Blu-Ray player and the Samsung Pebble (DVD F1080), an ultra compact high definition DVD player.

The Samsung Pebble, barely larger than a DVD disc, comes with touch sensitive buttons and features   extensive multimedia file playback capability, including DivX, MP3, WMA, MPEG4 and more. The sleek new-generation player can convert standard 480p discs to 720p, 1080i or 1080p disc outputs.

Thanks to the advanced D2RS technology, the Samsung DVD player can play any DVD regardless of its condition. The Defect Disc recovery solution technology enhances the DVD player's auto adjustment capability to enable clear pictures displays even if the disc is scratched, ensuring that the user does not have to worry about the disc's readability

The Pebble is priced at Rs 5, 900

According to Samsung, the BD-P1400 Blue-ray player can play most formats including Blue-ray, DVDs and CDs. The player can easily connect to other digital peripherals through an HDMI 1.3 port for expanded colour delivery. Priced at Rs.29, 000, it includes features such as Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus audio playback, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD Master audio, 5.1 channel output and more.

In addition to the Pebble and the BD-P1400, the South Korean firm also announced the launch of seven new DVD players for India, which include features such as. best playability, FM tuner, power resume function, USB 2.0 connection, CD ripping and 14 bit video DAC for lifelike pictures.

The company plans to  launch a home theatre-in-a-box to integrate Blu-ray playback, the first of its kind in India. Salient features include a 7.1 channel system, which delivers 1,100 watts of surround sound and full HD1080p Blu-ray play back.
