New Delhi: SolidWorks Corporation, a Dassault Systèmes S.A. (Nasdaq: DASTY, Euronext Paris: DSY.PA) company, that develops and markets software for mechanical design, analysis, and product data management, has unveiled the latest version of its flagship 3D CAD software, solidifying it as the number one choice in the mainstream 3D mechanical design market.

SolidWorks2005 software delivers powerful drawing capabilities, unparalleled ease of use and a host of new productivity features, accelerating the adoption of 3D design and speeding the pace of industry in India. With the growing adoption towards use of 3D, the company''s new range of software acts as a key enabler in enhancing speed and accuracy levels for Indian manufacturers.

The company''s new software version, SolidWorks 2005 provides better visualisation and communication to design engineers with features customized according to the needs of design engineers, especially in case of complex mechanical designs for accurate manufacturing. It offers a superior design experience through its extensive design library, enhanced loft features and over 250 enhancements thus enabling MCAD design engineers to market products faster and save cost of prototyping significantly.

SolidWorks has also released COSMOS 2005, the first product group to put advanced design analysis capabilities such as non-linear analysis and drop testing into an affordable, easy to use mainstream application. COSMOS 2005 also includes more than 100 user-driven enhancements that make sophisticated design analysis easy for virtually every person in product development, regardless of their technical expertise.

"The power and ease-of-use of SolidWorks software have enabled companies and institutions in faster adoption, leading to a shorter learning curve and accelerated time to market.

"Building on the success of SolidWorks 2004, our new software version SolidWorks 2005 further expands the definition of mainstream 3D CAD software to embrace powerful modeling features, collaboration tools, design analysis and support 2D users. This coupled with our enhanced analysis range COSMOS 2005, allows manufacturers to save design cost by approximately 30 per cent, increase production efficiency and improve business returns. We aim to provide an enhanced experience to the manufacturers and will continue our endeavors to promote higher-quality manufacturing," said Ved Narayan, vice-president Asia Pacific, SolidWorks Corporation.

"The market is now at an inflection point with Indian manufacturers increasingly realizing the need to shift from 2D to 3D to allow business transformation. Design engineers today face immense market pressure to develop a steady stream of new products. SolidWorks allows them to respond to market shifts faster and develop accurate designs with minimal investments," he added.

SolidWorks has registered exponential growth since its entry in India in 2001. Within a short span of its operations, the company has acquired over 250 commercial customers and 50 educational institutions as customers. Now it has over 2,200 licenses installed in India, which represents a growth of over 200 percent as compared to the previous year.

The company aims to capture 40 per cent of the 3D CAD design market by 2006.
