Somany Tiles sets up display centres

Chennai: Somany Tiles has opened display centres called 'Simply Tiles' in all the major metros to help the customer get the touch, feel and colour of tiles.

Mr Abhishek Somany, Executive Director, Somany Tiles, said that 65 per cent of the market is in the unorganised sector and the remaining 35 per cent is valued at around Rs 1,500 crore. The competition from the unorganised sector is strong and mainly on the price factor. The Rs 220-crore company has decided to position the product in the medium and upper segments of the market.

The company has come out with the idea of display centres to showcase the entire range of solution — floor and wall tiles, tile accessories, readymade spots and skirtings and Eton glass basins. Customised advice is also available, he said.

Another reason why the company decided to open the display centre was because the dealers were not able to display the entire Somany range.

Currently, there are display centres in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. The company plans to open in Hyderabad and Ludhiana shortly. Mr Somany said that there would, however, be no sales in any of these display centres.
