Spice Quicky MRP dropped 40% to Rs 299

New Delhi: Spice, the leading mobile telephone operator in Punjab, has announced a 40-per cent drop in the maximum retail price (MRP) of its pre-paid mobile phone card Spice Quicky. The drop in MRP to Rs 299 is one of the biggest price cuts experienced by the cellular industry in the state of Punjab in the recent months.

As part of the introductory offer, Spice has announced free airtime worth Rs 250 on new Quicky connections of Rs 299 MRP. This promotion is valid till 2 October 2002.

About the reduction of the MRP of Spice Quicky, Spice Telecom executive director Ashok Goyal says: “We have always focused on offering greater value for money to our new and existing subscribers through highly-competitive tariffs and pricing structure. Considering the importance of connectivity as the basic need for all segments of society, Spice is reducing he acquisition price of its prepaid connection by 40 per cent.

“This will take mobile telephony right to the doorstep of the common man. The prepaid segment has been the engine of growth for the cellular industry across circles and by reducing the cost of purchasing a phone card we hope to ensure that maximum number of people are able to enjoy the benefits of mobile telephony.“

Coupled with the newly-introduced rate of Rs 2.95 per minute on both outgoing and incoming calls through the launch of the alternate plan, Spice Quicky Smart, and the reduced price of Rs 299, the people of Punjab will find purchasing and using mobile telephones highly affordable and within their reach, he adds.

“Over the years we have developed a keen understanding and insight into the psychology of the Punjab consumer, which has enabled us to provide the consumer with value for money not only through a highly affordable pricing policy and tariffs, but also through enhanced coverage, choice of tariff plans to suit individual usage needs, as well as new and innovative value-added services,“ he says.
