Star India to handle ad sales for NDTV

30 Mar 2011

NDTV and Star India have joined hands again with a sales alliance, announced Monday.

Star will now manage the advertising sales for NDTV's news channels, NDTV 24x7, NDTV India and NDTV Profit.

Prannoy Roy, chairman, NDTV, said, ''Star, India's leading and most successful television network, has been a trusted partner in the past and NDTV looks forward to this new initiative which we are certain will be of mutual benefit.''

NDTV previously worked with Raj Nayak-led NDTV Media for ad sales function across all its news and lifestyle offerings. Later, when Nayak formed Aidem Media in March 2010, NDTV went with Aidem for its ad sales. The two, though, have now parted ways after being at loggerheads for sometime, according to industry sources.

According to media reports, a five-year agreement has been signed between NDTV and Star, which can be extended based on mutual agreement.

Kevin Vaz, who heads ad sales of Star network, will likely be given the additional responsibility of the three NDTV channels for the time being.

Star India will also be responsible for commercial back-office management like traffic, scheduling, billing and collections.
