Wind power equipment maker Suzlon Energy today said it had bagged an order from GAIL for supply of wind turbines to the state-run gas distribution company's major's upcoming project in Karnataka.

Suzlon received an order for the supply of wind turbines having combined generation capacity of 25.5 MW from GAIL India, according to the company's filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The order is for 17 Suzlon wind turbines of 1.5-MW capacity each, for commissioning in Karnataka in 2012, according to the company. It did not divulge the order value.

The company said in a statement issued in New Delhi that the power generated from the project would be sold to a local power distribution company under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) at a fixed, preferential feed-in tariff.

Suzlon is already supplying equipment for two of its wind power projects in Gujarat from the company.

Tulsi R Tanti, Suzlon Group CMD said that the company was delighted at the trust and faith GAIL had in Suzlon's technological and service delivery capabilities.
