Suzlon Energy’s REpower Systems bags orders for wind farms in Germany

11 Dec 2013

Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy today said its subsidiary REpower Systems SE, which is due to change it name to Senvion in 2014, had bagged orders for setting up wind farms totalling a capacity of 266 MW in Germany.

''REpower Systems SE, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group, has signed contracts to deliver 103 wind turbines with a total capacity of over 266 MW for 24 community wind farm projects in the Schleswig-Holstein region of Germany,'' the company said in a statement.

The contracts had been concluded with a number of contractors who were previously represented by a purchasing association.

A primary memorandum had been signed by Repower, with the purchasing association Schleswig-Holstein GmbH Wind in December 2012.

Various types of turbines would be deployed in the projects and 11 wind turbines were already in the implementation phase and are expected to be commissioned quickly, according to the statement.

It added that other projects would be completed by 2015.

Andreas Nauen, CEO of REpower Systems SE, said, with the contracts, the company was expanding its position in Northern Germany. This was only possible as the company had a suitable turbine for each individual site, he added.

The company's shares were trading at Rs9.67, up 2.44 per cent on the BSE.
