Suzlon Energy subsidiary to supply 25 wind turbines to French firm REPower

REpower Systems AG, a subsidiary of Suzlon Energy Ltd, India's largest wind-turbine maker said today that it had signed an agreement to supply 25 wind turbines to French firm, Akuo Energy SAS. The total capacity of the turbines will be 51.25 MW.
 
In its filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the company stated that the REPower MM92 turbines, 100 metres in hub height and 2.05 MW rated power output would be designed for three wind-farms in Northeast of France and together the turbines would achieve a total generation capacity of 51.25MW.

Akuo Energy SAS develops, operates and invests in renewable energy projects worldwide of which wind and solar plants are he main focus of the group. Akuo is aiming to develop about about 500 MW of power generation capacities in 2010.

According to the statement issued by Suzlon, the project would be executed by REpower SAS, the French subsidiary of Suzlon and under the contract it will be responsible for delivery, commissioning and serviced of the turbines.

Commenting on the development, Tulsi Tanti, chairman and managing director of Suzlon Energy Ltd said, ''France is a very important market for the wind industry, where REpower is a strong and key player. We are pleased with REpower's new order win with Akuo and are confident that this will be the foundation for a strong long term relationship.''

The company has committed the delivery and commissioning of six wind turbines for the wind farm Fontaine Macon in the Department of Aube by August 2010. REpower will supply nine REpower MM92 for the wind farm Sevingy Waleppe and ten turbines for the project Saint-Germainmont, both located in the Ardnnes Department in 2011, with the construction of both projects scheduled for the second quarter of 2011.

Per Hornung Pedersen, CEO of REpower Systems AG, commenting on the contracts said, ''We have already set up several wind farms in the Champagne-Ardennes region and are pleased to work with Akuo for the first time. We are confident that this will be the first step towards a global partnership.''

REpower SAS is headquartered in Paris, and has been operating in the French market since the end of 2001 with installations of approximately 850MW in France since then.
