Wind power major Suzlon Energy has received an order for supply of equipment for a 202-MW power project being set up by Kolkata-based engineering firm Techno Electric Group.

The order, worth Rs1,149-crore, is part of an agreement between the two companies for developing 500 MW of new wind power capacity.

Techno Electric Group's 500-MW project is the single largest wind power capacity generation plan by any independent power producer (IPP) in the country, Suzlon said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

"The Techno Electric Group are revered customers and we have very successful projects with them. This order stands testament to a new phase of IPP investments in wind," Suzlon Energy CMD Tulsi R Tanti said.

The 202-MW new wind power project, to be set up in Tamil Nadu, will be created in two phases - the first phase of 101.4 MW will be commissioned by June 2011 and the second phase of 100.8 MW by December 2011, the filing said.

Suzlon has a 50 per cent market share in India's wind power sector.
