Suzuki to recall 54,740 moto-scooter Access 125 over faulty rear axle shaft

Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automaker, has recalled 54,740 units of its popular moto-scooter Access 125 in the country to replace faulty rear axle shaft.

Suzuki Motorcycle will recall 54,740 units of the new gear-less Access 125 scooters manufactured this year between 8 May and 22 after finding a potential fault in its rear axle shaft.

The company has initiated the recall as part of a service campaign and will be replacing the rear axle shaft on the affected scooters as a precautionary measure.

Suzuki Motorcycle dealers will be contacting the owners individually from 13 July, the company said in a statement. Owners can also get in touch with their respective Suzuki dealers to ascertain if their model is part of the recall.

Suzuki India said, "In pursuance of Suzuki's commitment to customer satisfaction and as a matter of abundant precaution and safety, we have decided to undertake this service campaign on the New Access 125 scooters to address issues of rear axle/wheel stability that has been identified in some of these scooters."

Suzuki said that the replacement will be carried out free of cost and it will also offer periodic maintenance service to customers.
