Symantec appoints Joy Ghosh as country manager

Symantec Corporation, the world leader in utility software for business and personal computing, has announced that Joy Ghosh will be its country manager as it starts its own office in India. This will be effective immediately and Mr Ghosh will operate out of the company''s Mumbai office.

Symantec''s Indian office will commence in October 1999. The company is expanding its marketing and services team in India.

Ms Kerrie-Anne Turner, regional sales and marketing manager of Symantec South Asia, says, "We are pleased to have Joy on board as our country manager and head of our operations in India. Joy''s experience in the Indian market will help service local customers better and improve ties with channel partners. With the approval to set up the liaison office and appointment of a new country manager, Symantec is on course towards establishing a strong presence in India."

Says Mr Ghosh, about his appointment, "Joining Symantec is a great opportunity -- being involved with a company that has fantastic potential for growth in the Indian market. With the success of Symantec''s products in the Indian market since their launch in February 1999, I am confident that we will be able to meet the needs of Indian customers."

Mr Ghosh has over nine years experience in the IT and telecom sectors. He has a degree in electronics and power engineering and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. His earlier stints were at Wipro Infotech and as business manager at Comsat Max.
