Systime-Compaq Partnership for JD Edwards Competency Centre

Systime Computer Systems and Compaq have announced a tie-up for setting up the ''Systime JD Edwards Competency Centre'' in Mumbai. Systime, which belongs to the CMS group of companies, is a leading implementation partner of JD Edwards in India and has implemented their ERP solutions in over 20 locations. Compaq, the global leader in Enterprise systems, has been one of the oldest and most successful partners of JD Edwards.

This Competency centre will exhibit JD Edwards'' ERP solutions to businesses, by simulating complex business problems and showing how business performance can be improved without too many major changes to existing business processes. This centre will demonstrate "One World", a product which is based on open systems and Active Era tools which enables customers to put ideas into practice. Active Era is a collection of tools and technologies that allow companies to change their enterprise software quickly and easily during and after implementation.

JD Edwards'' software, Idea to Action, is a comprehensive solution to manage the enterprise and supply chain. This application gives an integrated view of the front office, manufacturing, logistics, human resources and finance for sectors like consumer products, industrial goods and services. These solutions operate in different environments like Windows NT, Unix, AS/400 and also support Java and HTML.

Compaq will deploy the One World application on Alpha and Intel platforms on its Unix and Windows NT based systems. Compaq''s Alpha based servers, Proliant servers and workstations are installed in a distributed environment at the JD Edwards Competency Centre. IBM AS/400 systems are also part of the system, demonstrating that the One-World system can co-exist with traditional products.

Other products like ActivEra Tool Set and Citrix Metaframe are also part of the display and demonstration. These will soon have Internet, Intranet and Extranet based Web solutions like ActivEra Portal and supply chain solutions. Over time, other business partners and customers of JD Edwards in India and neighbouring countries will be extended this support- informed Dr. Ramesh Subramaniam, Senior-Vice President of Systime.
