Tata Bluescope plant inaugurated in Jamshedpur

Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda inauguarated the Tata Bluescope Steel plant, set up as a joint venture between Tata Steel and Australia's Bluescope Steel company in Jamshedpur today.

The facility spread over an area of around 61 acres has been set up at an investment of Rs880 crore and would cater to India and SAARC countries.

The highly sophisticated coated steel manufacturing facility boasts an annual metallic coating capacity of 250,000 tonne, which includes a pre-painting capacity of 150,000 tonnes, according to Harish Pathak, managing director of Tata Bluescope Steel.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the chief minister hailed the launch of the facility for which foundation stone was laid on 16 November, 2005.

Stressing on the proper utilisation of manpower, Munda said the state had only nine Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) at the time of its separation from Bihar in 2000 but it today had 67 ITIs.

He added, the figure would likely go up to 100 next year.
