Tata Group launches superapp Tata Neu

Tata Group, whose business spans across multiple industries - from salt, software, telecom to steel - is ready to take on online market places like Amazon, Flipkart and JioMart with its consumer technology product, Tata Neu. 

The 154-year-old giant has been working – and internally testing – its plan to offer a range of services - from e-commerce, grocery to hotel stay in one app to take on the likes of Walmart-owned Flipkart, Amazon and Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Platforms. 
Tata Neu packs nearly a dozen properties that are either owned by Tata Group or in which it has a significant stake. The services include online grocer BigBasket, electronics store Croma, pharmacy service 1mg, luxury brand Cliq, streaming app Tata Play, as well as ticketing with AirAsia and food and beverages with the coffee chain Starbucks. The app also debuts Tata Pay, the giant’s UPI-enabled payments service that also offers loans and insurance.
Tata Neu, launched on Thursday, is the culmination of over two years of research, development, and testing. The app is designed to offer customers an extensive yet highly personalised shopping experience. It aims to integrate all of Tata Group’s most trusted brands into a single convenient platform, while offering users a degree of versatility and choice that’s truly unmatched. 
Tata Neu will cover categories ranging from electronics and groceries, to travel and more - the range of products and services offered is second to none, according to a Tata Group release.
Besides offering an integrated loyalty programme across Tata brands and exclusive benefits and diverse payment options Tata Neu has a lot to offer its users. A truly cross-category shopping experience, says the release.
Tata Neu empowers customers to:

  • Book a flight on Air Asia;
  • Get health checkups through 1mg:

  • Order a 5-star meal on Qmin; and
  • Search for NeuCoins.
NeuCoins are the rewards a customer earns when transacting on the Tata Neu app, website, or at any brand stores or hotels. They can then redeem these NeuCoins when making future purchases. 1 NeuCoin is worth Re1, and there are no limits to how many one can earn or use.
NeuPass is an upcoming exclusive membership service by Tata Neu, that confers upon its subscribers, several unique privileges with Tata brands. It entitles members to a minimum of 5 per cent additional NeuCoins every time they shop on the app, in addition to other benefits that will be revealed soon.
Tata Neu enables users to earn rewards on all credit card spends, as well as get instant access to funds like personal loans and credit lines. It also allows them to protect their assets and grow their wealth with custom insurance plans created specifically for them. Paying bills has never been easier. Users can also send money to friends, family members or any of their contacts directly to their bank accounts, using Tata Pay UPI, says the release.
