Tata Motors' global sales zoom 93 per cent to 85,714 vehicles in January

Global sales of the Tata Motors group, including Tata Daewoo and the Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with distributed brands in India, and Jaguar and Land Rover, stood at 85,714 units in January 2010 - a growth of 93 per cent year-on-year.

Cumulative sales so far this fiscal (April 2009 - January 2010) rose 13 per cent to 681,480 units compared with the corresponding figures for the same period in 2009-10, the company said in a release.

Commercial vehicle sales saw the biggest growth of 115 per cent at 40,334 units in January 2010. Cumulative sales so far in the current fiscal have risen 32 per cent to 322,470 units.

Sales of all passenger vehicles rose 76 per cent to 45,380 units in January 2010 while cumulative sales for the fiscal so far were marginally lower (-0.31 per cent) at 359,010 units.

Tata passenger vehicle sales, including those distributed, rose 44 per cent to 29,111 units in January while cumulative sales for the fiscal grew 22 per cent to 205,763 units.

Global sales of Jaguar and Land Rover rose 195 per cent to 16,269 vehicles in January 2010. While Jaguar sales rose 122 per cent to 2,974, Land Rover sales were up 219 per cent at 13,295 in January 2010. Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal were, however, 20 per cent down at 153,247 units compared to the sales in the same period of the previous year.
