Tata Motors reports 20% rise in global wholesales for Jan

The Tata Motors Group on Friday reported a rise of 20 per cent on a year-on-year basis in its global wholesales for January 2018.

Tata Motors said its global wholesales including of its British unit Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Plc (JLR) during the month increased to 114,797 units.

''Global wholesales of all Tata Motors' commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo range in January 2018 were at 44,828 nos, higher by 32 per cent over January 2017,'' Tata Motors said in a statement.

''Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in January 2018 were at 69,969 nos, higher by 13 per cent, compared to January 2017.''

The group said that its global wholesales for JLR in January stood at 49,631 vehicles.

Jaguar wholesales for the month were 16,108 vehicles, while Land Rover wholesales for the month were 33,523 vehicles.

The company previewed a slew of models at the ongoing Indian Auto Expo 2018 in Greater Noida, including traditional engine-powered vehicles as well as its upcoming electric vehicles. Some of the prominent models unveiled at the Tata pavilion include the 45X premium hatchback to rival the Hyundai i20 and the Tata H5X SUV.

While the 45X hatchback is built on the ALFA-ARC platform, the H5X SUV has been built jointly by Tata Motors and its UK unit Jaguar Land Rover. The company also unveiled the performance versions of Tiago and Tigor JTP along with their electric models.

Overall, the company showcased twenty-five vehicles at the biennial event including six electric vehicles (EVs) and two novel platforms for its passenger vehicles segment.
