Tata Power commissions 450 MW hydro power capacity in 100th year

Tata Power announced the commissioning 450 MW of hydro power capacity at the culmination of the company's centennial celebrations, even as the company set a target of adding up to 40 per cent generation capacity through non-fossil options to its incremental portfolio.

"The company, having successfully served the nation for over 100 years, achieved yet another milestone: the 450 MW of hydro power has been successfully commissioned in the centenary year," the company said in press release.

Tata Power further said that it will now aspire to add up to 40 per cent generation capacity through non-fossil options to its incremental portfolio.

Cyrus Mistry, chairman, Tata Group, commented, "It is a matter of great pride to all of us that Tata Power has completed 100 years of operations... I am sure that Tata Power will continue to set standards in the coming decades. I wish Tata Power all the very best in the next century.''

In his special message to Tata Power, Devendra Fadnavis, chief minister of Maharashtra, said, ''I would like to congratulate Tata Power on completing 100 successful years of its journey. I think this is the time to salute the legendary Shri Jamsetji Tata who lit the lives of millions, and has been doing the same for more than hundred years now by providing clean, affordable and abundant power to all. We are now moving towards clean power for all. When we talk of 'Make in India' at a time when the entire world economy is looking at India as a new investment destination, the most important thing is power. I am sure Tata Power, with their core values and business principles, can accomplish this dream of 'Make in India' through all its ventures and endeavors. The Tatas have always been ahead of time''.
