Tata retail arm Westside launches store for women

New Delhi: Trent Ltd, Tata Group's retail arm that operates it flagship retail chain Westside, has opened its first specialty store that is aimed at women. Trent is reportedly looking for expand this model across metros in India, through the roll out of at least 10 such stores over the next few months. The 4,000 sq ft Westside Woman store sports merchandise complimenting every aspect of lifestyle. The Westside Woman store will offer apparel for women including youth wear, footwear and accessories, acting as a “one-stop shop“ catering to emerging style requirements. According to Neeti Chopra, head of marketing at Trent Ltd., the store would be a mix of fashion and affordability. The relatively optimised 4,000 square feet store has been designed by the company keeping in mind the shortage of realty space, according to Chopra., and would do well to “enhance our retail presence.“ Trent has an alliance with real estate major DLF Universal, which will see one or more of its brands anchored at DLF malls across India with 27 stores on the cards. Westside is also reported to be planning a scaling up of its presence, and is looking to take its store count to 50 by 2010, from the present 28, by establishing “at least one Westside store in almost every city with a population exceeding five lakh,“ added Chopra.
