Tata group firm Infiniti Retail, which runs 'Croma' chain of consumer electronics and durables stores, plans to expand its range of private-label items with the introduction of a 3G-enabled tablet within next two weeks as also high-end refrigerators by Diwali this year.

The company's Croma-branded smartphones sourced from China are already on offer.

Infiniti Retail managing director and CEO Ajit Joshi told the media that the company was going to expand its offering in the private label segment by rolling out more products in coming days. He added, the company would introduce a 3G tablet in the next two weeks.

The company would source the devices from China and Taiwan, which would carry a price tag of Rs9,990, he added.

The company currently sells Croma-branded 2G tablets, priced at Rs6,990.

Joshi added that the company would also introduce high-end refrigerators under its private label, which would hit the market around Diwali. He however did not share the possible price of the product.

According to Joshi, the company started with a consignment of 1,000 phones and it was getting a very good response. He added the company had now placed orders for two more consignments from China.

The company has been selling 'Croma' smartphones priced between Rs8,990 and Rs10,990.

Joshi said the company wanted to add more smartphone models, which would be loaded with various features. Smartphones of renowned brands were targetted at the upper segment, but other sections of society also had similar aspirations for good products and the company would try to address that.

He added that the company had also launched various types of washing machines under the 'Croma' brand.

In response to a question as to the amount of revenue the company was looking at during this fiscal from its private labels, Joshi said, the company was targetting Rs200 crore in 2013-14.

The private labels business notched a sales turnover of Rs130 crore in last fiscal against a target of Rs 180 crore, he added.

He said 60 per cent of the private labels the company sold were from India.
