Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) net loss at Rs34.26 crore; EBITDA grows by 19 per cent over Q4 FY 08-09

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (TTML) has reported a net loss of Rs34.26 crore for the first quarter of FY10. Its EBITDA grew by 19 per cent over Q4 last year.

According to the company press release, revenues stood at Rs513 crore, despite adverse impact of reduction in mobile termination charges, compared to Rs505 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008.

EBITDA grew by 1.9 per cent to Rs158 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, compared to Rs155 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year; EBITDA growth of 19 per cent as compared to EBITDA of the immediate preceding quarter.

Net loss was at Rs34.26 crore, compared to Rs39.27 crore in the immediate preceding quarter, and Rs34.72 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2008. 

The company's subscriber base crossed the eight-million subscribers milestone with 42-per cent growth over the 5.6 million subscriber base registered in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

TTML was again rated as a congestion-free network. According to the release, it is the only network across Mumbai and Maharashtra to be rated congestion free in four consecutive reports published by TRAI. At the beginning of the year, TTML had also been rated in independent studies commissioned by TRAI as the No 1 wireless operator in terms of overall customer satisfaction in its geography.

During the quarter, the company launched its express wireless broadband service, Photon+, with VAS and data revenues increasing from 12.3 per cent of wireless revenues in Q1 of FY 08-09 to 15.4 per cent of wireless revenues in Q1 of FY 09-10.
