Tata Teleservices targeting a 10 per cent market share

Madurai: Tata Teleservices has reportedly decided to achieve a 10 per cent incremental market share month-on-month in Tamil Nadu, according to the company''s chief operating officer for the Tamil Nadu Circle, Srinivas Rao Sarapalli. The Tamil Nadu circle is reportedly one of the largest growing cell phone markets in India, which adds around 6 lakh customers a month. Tata Teleservices was one of the later entrants into the telecom business, and reportedly has a present market share of around 5-6 per cent in the State. The company is reportedly optimistic about achieving an incremental market share of 10 per cent month-on-month. The company claims to have a winning formula with the USP of its latest CDMA 3G1X technology that allows access to the Internet across all handsets. Handsets are offered with various functions, to a wide cross section of customers, at competitive tariff and affordable prices that range from Rs1,000 to Rs24,000. Moreover, these require only limited upgradation of software. According to the company, the service is on offer across 450 towns, with another 150 towns to be added within the next six months. Tata Teleservices has established a large number of exclusive showrooms across India, with 220 existing in Tamil Nadu and scheduled to increase to 300 by March 2008. Reportedly, the company''s customer base is set to surpass the 20 million mark in India, in celebration of which the company has launched a celebration offer for the festive Diwali period between 26 October and 25 November, which offers a wide range of gifts to attract more customers.
