By Tata Consultancy Servi | 24 Sep 2004

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has become the world's first organisation to achieve an integrated Enterprise wide Maturity Level 5 on both the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and the People CMM (PCMM), according to a release. TCS has further set a benchmark in quality standards by becoming the first company in the world to use the SCAMPI methodology for P-CMM appraisals.

“The methodologies, processes and quality practices adopted by TCS has been possible by virtue of the deployment of the integrated Quality Management System (iQMS) developed in-house by the company,“ says S Ramadorai, managing director, Tata Consultancy Services. The software constitutes defined processes, tools, standards and guidelines, which enable solution delivery, people management and continuous improvement.

TCS has further set a benchmark in quality standards by becoming the first company in the world to use the SCAMPI methodology for P-CMM appraisals. The Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) is an exhaustive methodology commonly used for CMMI appraisals.

Speaking on the occasion Ron Radice, a quality guru, said, "What TCS has achieved is unique. No one has done it before and it is hard to think that many can do it in a similar fashion in the near future. During this Enterprise Appraisal, they have exceeded all limits of size and complexity for which the SCAMPI method was intended. TCS is using the method beyond the space that the SEI expected that it would be used. I congratulate them on this tremendous achievement.
