Australian energy supplier AGL has signed a $50 million-plus deal with Tata Consultancy Services, Australia for infrastructure management services. The deal marks the extension of AGL's relationship with TCS and spans fiver years.

TCS is understood to have pipped IBM to the clinch the deal, which marks one of the six new big wins for the Indian IT services major

In 2007 , TCS inked a $16 million outsourcing contract with the electricity provider which included work on multiple SAP projects and other programmes that involved metering, gas trading pricing engines.

The India-based IT services firm teamed with BMC Software to win the latest contract.

According to TCS more than 650 consultants were dedicated to the AGL account. Owen Coppage, the chief information officer of AGL said the outsourcer clinched the contract on the basis of its quality of service and relationship management.

"TCS's focus on the relationship, rather than the contract, has resulted in higher levels of service each time we moved (into) a new area to TCS," Coppage said in a statement.
