TCS among global leaders in 2014 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index

29 Sep 2014

Tata Consultancy Services today said it has been recognised as a global leader in sustainability in the 2014 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World). TCS earned a rating in the 91st percentile, marking the second straight year the organization has ranked among the top 10 per cent of global organisations –  placing it 40 per cent higher than the industry average.

Each year, the DJSI analyses the top global organisations leading in sustainability, specifically assessing their economic, environmental and social business performance.

''We are honored to be included in DJSI's world index for the second straight year,'' said Ajoy Mukherjee, global Hhead and EVP of Human Resources, Tata Consultancy Services.

''DJSI is the standard in measuring sustainability, and this designation highlights our continued efforts to be a responsible corporate citizen by significantly reducing our operational impact on the environment.''

Established in 1999 as the first-ever family of global sustainability benchmarks, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) has become a reference point in sustainability investing.

Launched jointly between S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM, DJSI World tracks the performance of the top 10 per cent of the 2,500 largest companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index that lead the field in terms of sustainability.

The DJSI annual review is based on an analysis of corporate economic, environmental and social performance, assesses issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate-change mitigation, supply-chain standards, and labor practices.
