Tesla launches more affordable $35,000 Model 3

Tesla has launched a more affordable Model 3 with a base price of $35,000(about Rs25,00,000) in the US, with plans to deliver the vehicle across the world.

Tesla said it will shut its stores in the US and other parts of the world and instead start selling its cars online.
“We are proud to announce the $35,000 Tesla Model 3.
“With 220 miles of range, a 5.6 second 0–60mph and over-the-air updates, Model 3 Standard Range is now available to order at $35,000 before incentives. Although lower in cost, it is built to achieve the same perfect 5-star safety rating as the longer-ranged version, which has the lowest probability of injury of any car ever tested by the US government,” the company stated in a release
Tesla said it is also introducing Model 3 Standard Range Plus, which will cost 6 per cent more and 9 per cent more range, more power, and an upgraded interior.
Tesla said it has lowered the base price of all Model 3, Model S and Model X trims, and updated our Autopilot packages to be even more compelling.
“With today’s updates, we’ve taken a significant step towards allowing everyone to buy a Tesla, and accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation,” the release stated.
Although Tesla’s electric cars are not on sale in the country currently, the new $35,000 model could change it. Priced at $35,000 (Rs 25 lakh) in the US, Tesla intends to roll out online sales in all major markets where it currently operates. This has increased the chances of the brand making its way here substantially as it no longer needs to invest heavily in setting up a dealer network in the country. Also, Tesla has assured that it will provide doorstep service for its cars throughout the world. So all that Tesla needs to do to start selling its cars here is to set up service centres in key cities from where its service executives can reach Tesla owners for an on-site service.
