Toyota Lexus to unveil sports coupe concept at Detroit Auto Show

Lexus has announced plans to unveil its new Lexus design LF-LC 2+2 sport coupe, a concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show on 9 January.

''Crafted from a clean sheet of paper at the request of Lexus headquarters in Japan, the LF-LC blends both high technology and organic shapes to connect the driver to the machine,'' said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager.

''The clean lines of the vehicle emphasise motion, creating a distinctive look for this futuristic sport coupe.''
Conceived as a design exercise to explore the future of Lexus design, the LF-LC was created at the company's Calty design studio in Newport Beach, Calif.

Meanwhile, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is planning to bring luxury brand Lexus into the Indian market by 2013.

According to reports, the luxury car market is India is improving along with rising income levels of potential buyers.

Toyota is expected to increase local sourcing of the their other vehicles up to 90 per cent to offset the negative impact of currency fluctuations.

Toyota is expected to set up an engine and transmission units in Karnataka in accordance with the plan.
