TTSL posts 20 per cent incremental growth in customer base

Mumbai: Tata group's telephony service provider, Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), has posted a 20 per cent incremental growth in customer base during the last six months, thanks to its stress on customer initiatives, and added over 1.94 lakh new users in June.

The company's total customer base rose to around 20 lakh as on June 30, 2004, registering a 21.95 per cent growth during the month, and was recorded from its eight circles in the country across wire line, fixed wireless and mobile services.

The growth in customer base was due to TTSL's customer care initiatives and the company added a total of 80,315 new customers in January 2004; 75,865 users in February; 41,374 in March; 67,307 in April; 1.38 lakh in May and over 1.94 lakh in June, company sources said.

TTSL, besides targeting individual customers, also addressed the enterprise segment with customized solutions, offering a combination of fixed wireline, fixed wireless and mobile services.

It also offered certain value-added services including push-to-talk, 1,000 mobile games, and launch of services in new towns of respective circles, which provided the company a first mover advantage in the industry, they added.

TTSL was also planning to extend its operations to additional four circles, and was planning to have its operational footprint in a total of 12 circles, an increase from the existing eight circles.

At present, TTSL operates in Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Gujarat, Karnataka, New Delhi, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu circles.
