TVS Motor Two Wheeler Sales at 97,576 for December '07

Mumbai: TVS Motor Company has reported total two wheeler sales of 97,576 units in December 2007, as against 103,188 units in December '06.

During the month the company's motorcycle sales stood at 51,293 units, compared to 58,756 units in December 2006.  In the scooter segment, TVS Scooty sales stood at 14,568 units in December 2007, compared to 16,616 units in the corresponding period the previous year. According to the company, this segment too will witness further growth with the launch of TVS 'Scooty Teenz' electric vehicle.

TVS Motor's exports witnessed the highest ever jump, recording one hundred percent growth over the previous year, selling 14,402 units of two wheelers in December 2007 as against 7,088 units in December 2006.

TVS Motor had launched its TVS Flame 125 cc motorcycle in Chennai, and is keeping its national rollout commitment for January 2008 by despatching the model to five more cities - Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Indore and Bhopal.

The company is also expected to launch a new electric vehicle 'Scooty Teenz', sometime around the fourth quarter.  The vehicle is aimed at women whose daily travel is limited to around 15 to 25 km per day. The electric two wheeler has a maximum range of 50km per charge.

TVS Motor has also scheduled the launch of the Apache RTR EFI for the fourth quarter. This motorcycle would see TVS offer for the first time electronic fuel injection technology in the 160 cc category.

According to TVS's press release, the company will also leverage growth prospects in the three-wheeler segement, with the launch of its three-wheeler variants, while planning the launch of another motorcycle in the fourth quarter.
