Usha Martin commence its iron ore mining operations

Kolkata: Usha Martin Limited, producer of speciality steel and wire rope manufacturers has started its iron ore mining operation from today. The mine is situated in Barajamda, 160 km from the company's steel plant at Jamshedpur. The mine has reserves of high grade iron ore suitable for both blast furnace and DRI (sponge iron).

This is the first mine allocated in the newly formed state of Jharkhand. The ore produced from this mine will be used by the company at its steel plant located in Jamshedpur.

A captive railway siding has also been set up at the steel plant for unloading the ore.

Usha Martin has manufacturing facilities in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Hoshiarpur, UK, Thailand and UAE. It has a distribution, service and marketing network spread across the US, the UK, Europe, Africa, the Middle and Far East.
