Videocon Telecom Q2 revenue up 60 per cent

Videocon Telecom, the telecom brand of the Videocon group, has posted a 60-per cent rise in gross revenue for the second quarter ended 30 September 2014.

The GSM service provider posted Rs182 crore in revenue for the quarter under review, compared with Rs113 crore recorded during the same month a year ago, it said in a statement.

''This growth can be attributed to many factors such as steady growth in subscriber base, growth in minutes of usage, growth in data revenue, growth in average revenue per user and growth in gross revenue realised per minute,'' said Arvind Bali, director and chief executive officer at Videocon Telecom.

This growth was fuelled by high data consumption, a consistent increase in subscriber base, minutes of usage (MoUs), gross rate per minute (GRPM) and average revenue per minute (ARPU), it said in a statement.

The operator's user base across its four operating circles rose to 8.3 million as of September-end. Its MoU grew 40 per cent during the quarter, as compared with the same period of last financial year.

The New Delhi-based company's data revenue rose 160 per cent contributing to its overall revenue growth and data realisation was up by 71 per cent. The operator posted a 15 per cent improvement in its GRPM over same period last year. The growth was also supported by average revenue per user (ARPU), which rose to Rs155 during the reporting quarter.
