Vodafone India H1 revenue up 13.3 per cent at Rs17,580 crore; Q2 revenue shrinks

Vodafone India today reported a 13.3 per cent increase in its fiscal first half (April-September 2012-13) consolidated revenue at Rs17,580 crore (£2,015 million) even as the telecom major saw revenue decline to Rs8,636 crore (£990 million) for the quarter - down 4.33 per cent year-on-year and down 4.45 per cent quarter-on-quarter.

Vodafone India had reported consolidated revenue, including that of its subsidiaries and proportionate revenue from Indus Towers (where it holds 42 per cent share), of Rs15,510 crore in the first half of the previous fiscal.

"We achieved a revenue growth of 13.3 per cent,'' Vodafone India managing director and CEO Marten Pieters said.

He said the company has been able to improve its operational profit margin to 28.4 per cent through increasing operating efficiency based on scale and lower customer acquisition cost.

Vodafone said the company is servicing 153 million customers through 112,900 sites, including 73 million rural subscribers.

Its share of incremental industry revenue increased to 30.3 per cent while revenue market share increased to 21 per cent from 20 per cent.
