Vodafone India launches high-speed 3G WiFi dongle

Vodafone India, a unit of British telecom major Vodafone Group, has launched a high-0speed 3G WiFi dongle - Vodafone R206Z – that provides connectivity for upto 10 users, and enables data transfer speeds of upto 21.1 mbps.

Priced at Rs2,399, the Vodafone R206Z 3G mobile Wi-Fi is the lowest priced 21.1 Mbps mobile Wi-Fi presently available in the market, the company said in a statement.

''The launch of Vodafone 3G Mobile Wi-Fi is well timed to meet the demand for high speed mobile data services and will further enhance our 3G offerings in the market,'' said Vodafone India chief commercial officer Vivek Mathur.

The device is available across four metros (Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai) and will be launched across other parts of the country in a phased manner. 

The device allows sharing of a mobile broadband connection with up to 10 users through standard Wi-Fi operation. With its 1500 mAh (milliampere-hour) powerful battery it supports up to 3.75 hours of usage in one charge, if required to be used in areas without a power source.

The device can be used as a Wi-Fi storage hub and offers Micro SD card support with expandable memory of up to 32GB for subscribers who want to store the data as well. The product comes with inbox accessories of a charger and a USB cable.

The Vodafone R206Z has a Wi-Fi protected set-up, a functionality that enables WPS authentication in addition to regular Wi-Fi based authentication for a safer and more secure browsing experience.
