Vodafone India has followed the line of Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular to launch a tariff plan that enables free incoming calls on national roaming.

The GSM operator has launched a special tariff voucher (STV) of Rs5 per day, enabling free incoming while on national roaming, for its pre-paid customers. Roaming outgoing call charges under this daily plan will be 1.5 paise per second, the company said in a statement.

Customers would have to dial *444*500# to activate this daily plan, it said.

Additionally, the company is also offering a monthly plan with free incoming calls on roaming starting at Rs71 for pre-paid customers and Rs75 for post-paid customers.

It has also launched two roaming tariff plans for pre-paid and post-paid customers offering various roaming benefits. The two new plans, Roaming Tariff Plan (RTP) and Roaming Tariff Plan Free (RTP FR), offers reduced incoming roaming tariff and free incoming roaming benefit, respectively, to both pre-paid and post-paid customers.

The price point for the RTP-FR for pre-paid customers starts at Rs196 (varies by state) and Rs149 for post-paid customers.

''There is an increasing need for customers to remain connected while travelling and our latest national roaming plans enable our customers to do that without worrying about high roaming cost. With these new roaming plans we aim to offer a hassle-free roaming experience to our customers,'' said Vivek Mathur, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India.
