German auto major Volkswagen has eneterd the used car market in india with the launch of its 'Das WeltAuto' arm in New Delhi.

Neeraj Garg group sales director, Volkswagen India,  told reporters in New Delhi that the company would sell both VW and non-VW branded cars under the pre-owned car business.

He said VW will set up about two or three 'Das WeltAuto' showrooms in India during the first half of the year, the investment for which would be borne by VW dealers, he added.

According to Garg a pre-owned car business was the only milestone left for the company to package itself as a one-stop shop for customers.

"A healthy customer base and a strong network in the market established over the last couple of years has encouraged us to bring in our global pre-owned car business into the country," he said.

Garg disclosed that about 30 per cent of all the inquiries that VW showrooms are for exchange.
