Volkswagen launches ‘21st Century Beetle’ in India

German car maker Volkswagen on Friday launched '21st Century Beetle' in India priced at Rs28.73 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

"The Beetle is an iconic car that has scripted automotive history for over six decades, and we are delighted to announce the India launch of the 21st Century Beetle," Volkswagen  passenger cars director Michael Mayer said in a statement.

The 21st Century Beetle comes with rounded yet masculine proportions and a host of internal and exterior features, he added.

"We are confident of continuing the Beetle's legacy in India and we believe that the biggest addition to the 21st Century Beetle is the element of unlimited fun," Mayer said.

The car comes with various features including a seven speed automatic transmission, rear spoiler, electromechanical speed-sensitive power steering and leather seats.

It also comes with dual-zone auto air-conditioning system, sound system with eight speakers, auto headlamp activation and cruise control system.
