Volvo launches new diesel variants in India

Volvo Auto India has launched its existing product portfolio of luxury sedan S80, premium sedan S60 and luxury compact SUV XC60 with an all new 5-cyliner turbo D3 diesel engine.

Making it worthwhile for India customers in the backdrop of contant petrol price hikes, all three models have been priced extremely competitively to appeal to customers.

The new variants of S60, S80 and XC60 with D3 Kinetic engine will be priced Rs23.99L, Rs31.99L and Rs33.99L respectively (ex-showroom Delhi).

Designed to deliver 163 horsepower with 400 Nm torque, D3 variants of S60, S80 and XC60 will deliver mileage of 18.5 KMPL, 17.8 KMPL and 14.7 KMPL respectively. Cars equipped with the new engine will be available for retail at Volvo dealerships across the country with immediate effect, Volvo India said in a statement.

Tomas Ernberg, managing director, Volvo Auto India, said, ''In light of changing customer and market dynamics, Volvo has launched its most successful global models in the last two years for the Indian customers. Launch of D3 variants reiterates our long-term commitment of a more human-oriented approach called 'Designed Around You', where we continue making safe, technologically-advanced and Scandinavian designed cars around customers.''

The new D3 engines will offer greater driving pleasure across the range with its reduced displacement with a shorter stroke to optimise fuel consumption. The injection system of the engine has a different type of piezoelectric fuel injector compared to the D5 engine.

These injectors minimize consumption with exceptionally rapid and precise injection pulses under high pressure. This smooth and silent engine produces a healthy 400Nm torque and low CO2 emission.
