Western Union sets up HQ in Dubai

Ahmedabad: Western Union Financial Services has opened its new Middle East headquarters in Dubai.
The new facility in Dubai Internet city will serve as the hub for Western Union's activities in the Middle East and the South Asia region, including the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and India.
The Western Union money transfer service has been available in the Middle East for the past six years. The decision to set up the Middle East headquarters at Dubai Internet City was driven by the rapid growth of business witnessed by the company during the last few years. The total money transfer transactions in the region in 2001 had grown by 63 per cent.
